Just a Little Get Away

Some fun events have occurred the past couple months. Jett and I took our first little vaca together (without kids) in December. We went to Viva Las Vegas for four days. It was a fun little get-a-way and I forgot my camera (BOO!). Which I'm sure Jett was estatic about seeings he detests getting his picture taken. Neither one of us has been to Vegas for about 10 years so it was fun to explore and see how things have changed. We had so much fun that we're taking the kids in February. Woot Woot!

We then went last weekend to Salt Lake City to watch LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers) play the Jazz. It was such an amazing game and incredibly entertaining. Jazz won at the buzzer with a rookie hitting a three pointer. It was so crazy! It was fun to watch Lebron and Shack play. Shack is a BEAST! His feet were like double the rest of the players. It was craziness. It was awesome to watch LeBron work his magic on the court. Unbelievable!!!

The game was on Thursday and we came home on Sunday. We left the kiddos home on this trip as well. I wonder if they are feeling left out at all? I think Lexie is. But she had fun being babysat by Grandma and Grandpa Simpson then Gramps and Sparky one night. Friday and Saturday Jett and I did some shopping and had fun figuring out the trans system in Salt Lake. We ate at several different restaurants. Macaroni Grill, Olive Garden, and The Melting Pot to name a few. The Melting Pot was our favorite. We liked it so much we ate there both nights! It was soooooo good! I've been craving it ever since.

I swiped Lexie's camera to take to the game so I didn't have to carry my big, bulky one so the pics didn't turn out so great. Here are a couple that turned out ok.

Warm ups: Cavaliers

Warm ups: Jazz

Utah Jazz Bear Mascot chatting with ESPN

LeBronHere's me being very annoying! I'm making Jett take self portraits! He HATES it!!!!

Excuse my recording skills. They suck! LeBron makes a shot. The Shack takes it back down the court for a dunk.

The Jazz won by one point!!!The crowd went NUTS, as you can imagine!

Smile Until Your Face Hurts

"As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let us down, probably will. You'll have your heart broken and you'll break others' hearts. You'll fight with your best friend or maybe even fall in love with them, and you'll cry because time is flying by. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, forgive freely, and love like you've never been hurt. Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances. You just have to live life to the fullest, tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someones hand, comfort a friend, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, be a flirt, and smile until your face hurts. Don't be afraid to take chances or fall in love and most of all, live in the moment because every second you spend angry or upset is a second of happiness that you can never get back."

Thank you Trisha for posting this quote on your blog. I think we all need a reminder to live in the moment and cherish every second of life we get to live. I am so grateful for my family and friends. I am very lucky to have some very amazing people in my life. I thank God everyday for blessing me with such a wonderful life.

Tyke

Tyke's latest is to ask me 834,250,000 questions a day. Here are an example of just a few:

Why do we have belly buttons?
Why do we eat?
Why doesn't Puppy wear pants?
Why do we have to take a bath?
Why do sugar bugs live on our teeth?
Why do people have lots of dots on their face? (freckles)
Where does Santa live?
Why do you like orange juice?
Why does the potty water go up! and up! when I put too much paper in it?
Why does Dad have a hairy face?

And here's the one that really caught my attention tonight:

Mom, why do you have a big butt?

Oh Boy!...or Girl???

This is what happens when you let Masi and Tyke take a bath together. I about had a heart attack when I came in and saw my baby boy looking very much like one of my baby girls!!!

Are Humans like Frogs???

My sister, Lori, had her new baby, Tayson, blessed on Sunday. As we were sitting there during sacrament meeting her son, Hayden, came up to me as I was holding Tayson. Tyke was standing there "petting" Tayson's head. Hayden says, while looking so sweetly at his brother, "Oh Tayson. He is not a puppy. He is just a human. He just has some blue on his head." I say, (holding my laughter back) "yes, he is a human. And that blue on his head is a vein. It's blood under his skin." He replies, still looking adoringly at Tayson, "yeah. It is blood. Baby's have blue blood."

This totally brought me back to the days when Tyke was a little baby. I was tucking Lexie in one night and I could see the wheels in her head just-a-spinnin'. I was excited to hear what she was about to say because she comes up with the most random things to say. She says to me, "Mom? When will Tyke become a human?" I said, "he is human, Lex." She says, "well, when will he have legs to run with and when can he play with us?" I said, "well, humans aren't like frogs. We don't start out as tadpoles and evolve into frogs. We are humans from the very beginning. We just grow and our bodies get stronger. Then we walk and run and play. But we are always human."

I just LOVE how the minds of children work. They are so funny!

Lexie

Lexie had a tooth pulled today. They are doing some pre-braces work done on her so this is like her 4th tooth they've "wiggled" out. So, we're driving home from the dentist and we had to stop at Mother Goose to drop a check off. Lexie ran it in. After a few minutes she came back.

Lexie: Oh, so sorry that took so long. Tracy (the owner) was like "Oh! You got a tooth pulled!" And I was like, "yeah." And then Kelcey came up to me and was like, "are you staying?" And I was like, "no." Then all these kids came up to me and were like, "oh my gosh! Your tooth! What happened? Why is there a big hole?" Then one girl came up to me and was like, "why is your cheek fluffy?"

This just struck me as funny. Kids are hilarious. They make me laugh. "Why is your cheek fluffy?" So cute!
