My Little Sass Pot

On Thanksgiving the 4 girl cousins, Lexie (9), Kylie (9), Masi (7), and Ady (5), were playing in a homemade fort downstairs. Ady is crying, or shall I say wailing. Lori goes to investigate. After a minute she comes upstairs with Ady and says, "It's fine, Ady, we will just leave. So, I pipe in, "why?! What's going on?

Lori: Ady is crying in the corner while Lexie, Masi, and Kylie are in the fort. I ask Ady why she isn't playing in the fort and she said because Lexie told her no. So, I asked Lexie if Ady could come in and she said, "No. Ady is too little."

WHAT!?! I mean the least she could do is act like a good girl when an adult confronts her naughtiness!!!!!

So, I called the girls up to see what the h&!! is going on. Zero toleration for meanness at my house.

Me: Masi, tell me what happened.
Masi: So, like Lexie like told me and Ady that we were like too little to play in the fort. So like I asked her if I pppplllleeeeassssee could and she said, "fine". So, then like Ady asked if like she could and Lexie told her no. So, like I went into the fort and Ady went to the corner and like cried her head off.

I look at Lexie.

Me: Lexie?
Lexie: Yeah. That's pretty much what happened.
Me: Nice. How would you like it, Lexie, if they were all in the fort and told you that you couldn't be in there because you are too old?? How would that make you feel? Would that make you feel sad?
Lexie: *head held down in shame* Yes.
Me: You have about 2 seconds to apologize to Ady and BE NICE!!!
Lexie: *throwing her hands in the air and dead serious* MOM! I did say it NICE!!!!

For a brief moment the entire room erupted in laughter but was soon back under control due to the fact I was trying to hold my own composure while reprimanding my child. I had to get her out of the room ASAP before I lost it so I told her to beat it and be nice to everyone. Nice as in BE NICE...not be mean...nicely. Oh that girl!!!

Let's Give Thanks

I LOVE THANKSGIVING!!! This is one of my very most favorite holidays. I love getting together as a family. I love the food. I love starving myself all day long so I can stuff my face. I love the warmth of the house while it's freezing outside. I love the food. I love the kids playing together and remembering how fun it was for me when I was a kid. I love how it's the kick off to the Christmas Season. I love eating sooo much that I totally bloat myself and have to retire to the nearest couch to crash like a beached whale. And did I happen to mention that I LOVE THE FOOD?!

This year Tenae had the turkey smoked and can I just say that this was the best turkey I have ever had in my entire life?! It was so tender and moist. Oh my! It was goooooood.
She's a crazy carnivore. Ha!
The boy table.
Mom getting into the carving of the turkey. Glad it's not me carving. I only like to eat turkey, not carve it. :)

Just Cute

Masi: Mom, when Santa gets old will he die?
Me: No. Santa is magic. He will never die.
Masi: *sigh of relief* Oh! I am sooo glad. *thinking* We are so lucky he hasn't fallen off a roof and died.

********************************************************
Late one night I was in the office working. Tyke comes in with droopy lil' eyes. It was, after all, past his bedtime :o/.

Tyke: Mom, are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Me: *looking over at him trying not to laugh cuz where in the heck did he come up with that, right?* What are you thinking?
Tyke: I'm thinking I'm real tired.

Oh! He kills me! HA!

Masi

Today I am thankful for Masi. She makes me laugh everyday. She has many of the same characteristics of Jett and I think that is so cute. I love her sweet, raspy voice and how she bee bops around the house carefree as ever. She has the cutest little giggle that makes me giggle every time she laughs. She is just so cute! I love how she has to dress up everyday for school. I mean this girl plans out her outfits the night before with every needed accessory available. She is incredibly particular about her hair and I think that is just so cute.

She loves her family very much and had a very tender heart. She tries to please all and wants everyone to be happy. I can't imagine my life without this sweet girl.

I love you, Masi! You are very special to our family.

Work

I am so incredibly lucky to have the job I have. I see so many who have lost their jobs and are facing an everyday struggle financially. I realize how fortunate I am to not only have Dragonfly, but the girls who work for me. I am so blessed to have 4 wonderful people, with whom I trust entirely, to be working there. Amanda, Dana, Tiffany, and Tara are a few of the most amazing people I have ever worked with. I have been in the hair business for 11 years and I understand how hard it is to find good workers. I hit the jackpot!!! So, today I am most thankful for my job. I am truly, truly a very lucky girl.

Lexie Says...

...that sign language is for Indians and other people who don't know how to talk.

Thank you for that information, Lex. Ha ha ha!! Oh how I love that girl!!!

Lexie

Oh sweet Lexie girl. Today I am most thankful for her. She is the peacemaker in our family. She is such a big help and loves to make people happy. She is very in tune to peoples feelings and has a tender heart. She LOVES little kids and is always making up games at family get togethers that keep all the "little ones" entertained. We are so lucky to have her in our family. She makes me proud everyday. I love you, Lex!

Running

Run
Running all the time
Running to the future
With you right by my side
Me
I'm the one you chose
Out of all the people
You wanted me the most
I'm so sorry that I've fallen
Help me up lets keep on running
Don't let me fall out of love
Running, running
As fast as we can
Do you think we'll make it?
(Do you think we'll make it?)
We're running
Keep holding my hand
So we don't get separated
Be
Be the one I need
Be the one I trust the most
Don't stop inspiring me
Sometimes it's hard to keep on running
We work so much to keep it going
Don't make me want to give up
Running, running
As fast as we can
I really hope we make it
(Do you think we'll make it?)
We're running
Keep holding my hand
So we don't get separated

Thankful Again

Furnace. Good ol' gas heat. LOVE it. I am soooo thankful that I live in the day and age of gas furnaces. Jett and I took our girls to see a Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey tonight. Ohhhh how I would just hate to live in the day where your house is lit by candle and warmed by coal in the fireplace. Ugh! We froze as we walked out to our car after the movie. We all said how we HATE cold weather. I was instantly thankful when we walked into our cozy, little home. The warmth embraced me as soon as I entered. It's the little things in life that make the BIGGEST difference.

Simple Pleasures

I am most thankful for my lovely jet tub today. It was soooo nice to come home from a long day of work and kids to get in the tub and soak my tired bones. Yay for jet tubs. :o)

Lisa

Lisa is my best friend and sister. She is always there when I need her. It doesn't matter if I call her in the middle of the day or in the middle of the night she will always listen or talk to me. She is the most selfless person I have ever known and a person I will always hold very dear in my heart. She is always so quick to want to jump in her car and drive to Pocatello if she feels as if I need help in any way. Never mind that she is a single mother of two beautiful daughters and a full time student at BSU. She will drop it all to come to my rescue and I love her so much for that.

Lisa,

Thank you for everything that you do for me. You are my best friend in the whole world and I love you more than you'll ever know. How did I ever get so lucky as to have you for my sister? You are my angel sent from God. You really are. You make me so strong when I feel so weak. You bring me up when I am down. You make me realize who I am and what I'm worth even when I feel so lost and worthless. You give me the push I need to keep going even when I want to give up. I only wish I could be like you in so many ways. You are a truly amazing person and one of the the strongest people I know. I always know when you go through hard times that you will come out on top because you are strong.

I am most thankful for you today and everyday. You are my sister. You are my friend. Thank you.

Love You Always,

Kristi
Here is a song that I sent to Lisa when she was going through some pretty rough times. I LOVE this song. It describes our relationship as sisters and friends so perfectly. I wanted to upload the video but I don't know how :0/ So, until I figure it out this will have to do.
You've Got A Friend
When you're down and troubled
And you need some loving care
And nothing, nothing is going right
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
Call you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend
If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me knocking at your door
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
Ain't it good to know that you've got a friend
When people can be so cold
They'll hurt you, and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
Oh, but don't you let them
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend

Tyke

Oh my little "Wykey" he is just so darn cute! He is the one I am most thankful for today. He is at the funnest age and he says and does the cutest things! He is really into water color painting lately. He spent all morning painting pictures. Let me tell you, he is one very busy boy, so it is amazing that he sat for that long. Of course, with the painting comes the mess. He had paint all over his hands and his white under shirt. It was so cute because he suddenly noticed how dirty his shirt was like 2 hours later. He said, " look, Mom! I am Grandpa!" That just really made my heart sing that he was so happy to look like my dad. My dad is the most hard working man I know and, yes, he has plenty of shirts that have paint on them because he does interior remodeling and does a ton of indoor and outdoor painting. I took a picture of Tyke with his "grandpa" shirt on. And you know what? It does look just like my dads work clothes.

Another cute story about Tyke is this morning I was getting ready for work and he came in so excited to tell me that our puppy, Max, has super powers!!! I said, "oh! Really? How?" He then crouches down on all fours and lifts up his leg to scratch behind his ear. He said, "see? When Max does this his super powers come out!" Oh he is just so funny! We all think he is just scratching his ear but Tyke knows what's really going on.

One of my favorite things that Tyke does right now is come into the room and say, "oh yeah, I like it" then turns around and does a little booty shake. HA! He kills me. We all bust up every time he does it! He has just been so fun lately and the last couple of days he has really made me realize how lucky we are to have him in our family. I love you, Tyke!

The Wonderful Washing Machine

So, I'm been thinking all day what I'm going to be thankful for today. I really want to feel it from the heart. I don't want it to just easy, I want it to be something that really made me feel grateful and touched me. Well, I haven't had anything come to mind yet. OH NO! And really the only thing that keeps coming to mind is (drum roll) washing machines. Isn't that dumb? I mean, it's not really dumb but it seems thoughtless. But as I'm doing my usual "one load a day" followed by the sheets Tyke peed last night I kept thinking I am SO glad I have a washing machine. It would take me all day long (and doing NOTHING else) to keep up with all the laundry for 5 people if I had to do it all by hand. So, that's it today. Washing machine. :o)

Today I Am Thankful

Today was a very usual day. I woke up at 6:15 and began the everyday morning ritual. Shower, do my hair, makeup, etc. etc. At 7:00 I wake up the girls and get them ready. I had to be to work at 8:15 so I ran the girls to school then off to work I went. It was very busy at work and I had one client in particular that made me realize what I am thankful for today. Health. Unlike her and her parents I am so fortunate that I am in good health. And not only myself, but my entire family. I listened to my poor client weep about her issues with her health and how she is no longer able to take care of her elderly and sickly parents. I am so lucky that we do no have to battle everyday sickness. I realized that I take health for granted. I woke up and just be-bopped around not ever thinking once how grateful I am that I hopped out of bed feeling great. As did my children. I thank the Lord for giving me the health and strength that I need to take care of myself and my sweet family.

So, I decided that everyday until Thanksgiving (starting tomorrow) I'm going to blog about something I am thankful for. Stay tuned...

Have You Ever Been SO Tired...

...that you fell asleep...while on the PHONE?? Ha!

Me and my sister, Lisa, are talking on the phone last night around 10 pm. Mind you, she called me. We're talking the usual and I get going on some story. I finish and wait for her reply. Nothing. Finally, I say, "hello?" Silence. A little louder, "HELLO?" She replies, "oh..hello?" I start chuckling and ask her if she fell asleep. She said, "yeah. I think I did. That is so weird! I didn't even feel tired!"

I am laughing out loud while typing this, by the way. It was SO funny!

We continue on with our conversation and I went off again on another story. I finish. And...you guessed it. Silence. So, this time I just sat in silence for like 20 seconds to see what happens. Nothing. "Hello?" I say. "Lisa? Did you fall asleep again?" Suddenly she said, in a slightly defensive tone, "NO!" I immediately start laughing my face off. HARD! She then tells me, "oh man! I think I actually dreamed that time. I just dreamed that I fell down the stairs at school with all my books in hand!" I can barely even stand it I am laughing so hard. I said, "um, Lisa, I think you're tired. I will let you go and I will talk to you tomorrow."

We then got off the phone and I chuckled to myself for a good minute or two. She is SO FUNNY!!!
