All Smith's Are Cousins, Right?

Lexie: Mom, are we Irish or American?
Me: American.
Lexie: Are you sure? Because my friend Callie told me that she just found out yesterday that she is Irish.
Me: Why would Callie being Irish make us Irish?
Lexie: Because we are cousins.
Me: You and Callie are cousins?
Lexie: Yes.
Me: How are you and Callie cousins?
Lexie: Because her Grandma's last name is Smith.

I Really Miss.....

....Lexie's "short cut". :o( I mean her hair isn't exactly long right now, but it is longer than what is in these pics. However, I am really trying to hold off on cutting her hair until after dance competitions and recitals are over. It's practically impossible to do the dance "do's" with short hair. So, alas, it is what it is...for now anyway. But I really can't wait to chop it again.

Gosh she's cute! ;o)

March Shout Outs

Happy Happy Birthday, Ady Cakes!
March 1, 2010

Princess Ady turned 6 years old on the 1st. And when I call her "princess" I mean it. She is the most frilly, bling-bling, flashy chicka on the block! She loves to have her hair and make-up done and, oh boy, does she know she's cute! One of my favorite stories of Ady is when Lori did her hair all big and floofy with the round brush and put some curl into it. When she was done, Ady turned to look at it in the mirror and she gasped happily and said, "Oh mom! I look like Grandma!" She is just so fun and I will never forget the time she went out on my deck and started singing to call the birds and squirrels in, like what the princesses do on the cartoons. To much disappointment, she came inside to ask me why they didn't come? She is so CUTE! I love you, Ady! I hope you had the best birthday ever my little sweet cheeks!

Happy Happy Birthday, Mom!

March 3, 2010

My mom is the greatest person in the world. There is nobody more selfLESS than she is. She would give the clothes off her back for any one in this world. She is so tenderhearted and giving it can be to a fault. She wears her heart on her sleeve. I am so lucky to have been born to her I thank the Lord everyday for sending me to such a wonderful mother. She was the sweetest mom growing up and I have such amazing memories of her. One of my favorite things she did when we were kids was after she tucked me in at night and gave me bedtime hugs and kisses, she would go in and softly play the piano. I would fall asleep to her sweet melody and I will never forget that. Thanks for being the best mom in the world. I love you with all my heart! Happy Birthday, Mom.

Happy, Happy Birthday, Kenny!

March 16, 2010

Kenny is my oldest brother and he is what every girl wants her oldest brother to be. He always looks out for his younger siblings and always has their best interest at heart. I will never forget the time when Jett was working out of town and I was home all alone. I got really scared. I heard some music going off periodically in my basement and it totally freaked me out. I was so scared I called Kenny. I asked him what he was doing and instantly you could hear the concern in his voice. He asked what was wrong and I tried to blow it off as if I was just being silly. I told him I kept hearing the music and was a little scared. I said it was not that big of a deal, but if he was in the neighborhood maybe he could stop by. He happened to be on his way into town but hadn't made it back quite yet. I said it was no big deal and thanks anyway. We hung up. He called me back maybe 2 minutes later to tell me his father in law, Garth, was on his way over to check things out. I was like, "WHAT?! Oh no! This is not THAT big of a deal! Don't send Garth over, PLEASE!" I mean, how embarrassing right? But he said he would feel better knowing that everything was fine and there was no boogie man in my basement. Now, mind you, this is the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!!!! O geez. Anyway, Garth came over to find a little potty training potty was losing it's battery and was randomly flushing then playing the happy music after it was done. I threw that puppy right in the trash, my kids were all potty trained at this time thank goodness. I thanked Garth and he went on his way. I will never forget the concern Kenny had for me. He isn't one who expresses feelings too often so when he shows them in his actions it really means a lot. I love you, Kenny, and I hope you have the best birthday ever!

Something Like That

As you can imagine, shopping for 5 people creates a lot of groceries. For those of you who know me well, you know that I HATE to go grocery shopping. Jett does the majority of the shopping for me because he knows that if he doesn't there will be NO food in the house. I can make dinner from practically anything I can scrounge up in the pantry or fridge. Even if we have pb&j for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I will do it if it keeps me out of the stupid stores. However, I will finally break down and go once Jett draws the line and MAKES me go. When the both of us finally do go, it's a pretty big deal. We stock up like it's nobody's business, if you know what I mean. So, off to Costco we went. Two hours and two baskets full of groceries later:

Cashier: So, you buying for a scout troup or something?
Jett: Yeah. Something like that.

:o)
