Whale Watching

The day after our fun day at the beach we decided to go whale watching. Lexie and Tyke opted out of this event. I thought Lexie would really like it but I think she was secretly afraid she may get eaten by a shark. So, we left those two with my parents and me, Jett, and Masi ventured back to Newport. I was a little nervous as we boarded the boat that I may get a little sea sick. I remember like it was yesterday when I went to Alaska and barfed over the edge of the boat while ocean fishing. Ugh. But I didn't get sick. Yay!

We saw probably 5 whales while we were out. They were REALLY cool! Masi was amazed! I missed the best picture ever, though. A whale came up and his entire tail came out of water. It was unbelievable!!

Oh look! Here is Jett's boat!!! Grumpy J. Hahah...I teased him when we saw this!On our way out into the ocean to watch the whales we stopped for a minute to drop some crab traps in. When we were done we pulled them out on our way back in. Masi got to help pull them in. Go Masi! Pull Hard!!
We caught a couple. Woo hoo!

Our guide was full of information. Masi's favorite part was learning about plankton. We even got to look at it under the microscope. It wasn't quite what she had imagined. I think she was half expecting the guy off Sponge Bob Square Pants cartoon to be in there!

Yes, this crab was very alive while I was holding it. A little creepy.
